Please note: when you install the firmware on the console, please keep the power of your console above 35%. It takes more than 20 minutes to install, and it needs to be turned on manually after installation. In addition, when you download the firmware installation package, you don't need to decompress it, and you don't need a folder to put the installation package into the memory card.

Note: betools is only suitable for customers whose console reboots or cannot enter the system. If you just want to update to a stable version, I suggest you use an SD card to upgrade the firmware, thank you.

X18S customers have problems updating the firmware, and betools fails to read or write files. Our engineers are already dealing with related issues. First of all, please confirm whether the read and write permissions of your computer user group are checked. If yes To check, please right-click the firmware file-Properties-Security-Select User Group-Edit-Check the corresponding permissions. Then try again, I think the problem can be solved.

@Arkemedes I’m not experiencing those issues. I can charge all the way up to 100%. No issues with Micro SD card detection.
I have successfully updated the device to the newest firmware (October 15th version). I have noticed two problems that I am wondering if others are experiencing: 1) My device will only charge to 78%. I believe this is a software issue as I’ve tried 2 different USB-C cables both of which work to charge an android phone. 2) When I turn on the device it says that my microSD (TF) card is missing when it’s obviously in the system. As soon as I unlock the device and get into android it recognizes the card.
OK guys, another update… I have followed the instructions provided by PowKiddy and indeed successfully and very easily installed the update! GOOGLE Playstore is there now!
The entire process took only 15 to 20 min. The screen does go black at one point… Just tap the screen, it comes back.
This update process is so simple… BeTools not needed! Just copy the zip file to the root of the micro SD card. Insert the card into the device.. Follow the very simple instruction in the Word document. It worked for me. I hope you guys have success as well.
I contacted the people at Powkiddy via the AliExpress app… That’s where I purchased the X18S… I asked where the most current updated firmware could be found. This is his response (I downloaded it to my phone, but haven’t put it on an SD card or tried to do the update yet!)
